The problem
Media players split into two camps. Lightweight ones play the file and offer nothing for working with its audio; professional audio tools do real signal processing but are not built for simply watching or reviewing footage. Anyone reviewing material and shaping its sound ends up running both at once.
The approach
NexPlayer is a player with the DSP chain inside it. Video decodes through FFmpeg with hardware acceleration and renders via OpenGL or Metal, while audio runs through a six-stage effect chain in the same application. The stages are modular units rather than fixed features, so the chain is extensible without touching the player.
What it does
Hardware-accelerated playback
FFmpeg decoding with OpenGL rendering on Linux and Windows, Metal on macOS.
Six-stage effect chain
EQ, reverb, delay, compressor, flanger and phaser, applied in real time during playback.
Review controls
Frame-stepping, variable playback speed, loop regions and screenshot capture.
One codebase, three platforms
A single Qt 6 project builds for macOS, Linux and Windows through CMake.
